Yorkshire Leadership Conference

11/Apr/2006

Andy Green speaking about ‘You are never more than 12ft from an opportunity’ was one of the key note speakers at one of the North’s leading management events, the 3rd Yorkshire Leadership Conference which took place on Tuesday April 11 at the Thornes Park Centre, Wakefield College, Wakefield.

With contributions from world leading authorities such as David Taylor, best-selling author of the ‘Naked Leader’ and European Business Speaker of the Year; Ed Balls MP; Preethi Nair, winner of the Asian Woman of Achievement award; and creativity@work’s  Andy Green, the conference succeeded in inspiring and extending know-how among business leaders.

Entitled ‘Breaking the Frame’  the event also featured a series of practical workshops designed to offer valuable learning and insight for delegates, as well as a plenary session chaired by Margaret Wood Chair of First, the development agency for the Wakefield district.

The event also featured an appearance of the ‘world’s smallest conference centre’ – a two seater car which will offer one-to-one consultations from creativity consultancy creativity@work. A more conventional exhibition of support services for leaders was also being held at the conference.

Commenting on the importance of the event David Taylor, Leadership and Development Manager– namesake to the event’s lead speaker – said: “Leaders in the public and private sectors face increasing demands on their abilities to manage, inspire and lead in a time of greater complexity and competition. ‘Breaking the Frame’ is an appropriate name for the event as we seek to enable managers break down any barriers holding them back.”

The conference was sponsored by Yorkshire Forward, Wakefield College and Wakefield MDC.
